Family Reunion History of the Harrison Family

Our Family

In the early 1800s, Matthew and Katie Lawrence from Lowndes County, Columbus, Mississippi were married, and from this union stemmed six children, with two dying in their early childhood and four surviving: Matthew, Mark, Martha, and William. As the Lawrence family grew, they began to branch out into other parts of the country. After moving away from each other, the family lost its close connections, leading to a need for a family reunion to reconnect them.

In the early 1970s, Lillie Mae Clanton-Shores organized a family get-together at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Roger Shores in St. Louis, bringing together over 100 family members. The following year, another gathering was held at the residence of Rev. and Mrs. George W. Harold in Kinloch, MO. The tradition continued when Lennie and Joseph Harrison, along with Elizabeth Harrison Bonner, hosted a family social at the home of Mr. Lennie Harrison in Kirkwood, MO.

In late 1976, a young man named Wilfred McMullen received a vision from God to plan a family reunion for the entire Harrison roots. As time went on, this effort was greatly blessed, evident in the unity enjoyed by the family today. Let us thank God for the Lawrence family history that has enriched our lives and the connections we now cherish.
