In the early 1800’s Matthew and Katie Lawrence from Lowndes County, Columbus, Mississippi were married and from this union stemmed six children, with two dying in their early childhood and four surviving:
Matthew, Mark, Martha and William
As the family continued to grow, they began to move into other parts of the country. After moving away from each other, the family lost its close connections.
In the early 1970’s, Lillie Mae Clanton-Shores had a family get – together at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Roger Shores (St. Louis) and over 100 family members attended.
The next year, a get – together was organized at the home of Rev. and Mrs. George W. Harold (Kinloch, MO.)
The following year, Lennie and Joseph Harrison, and Elizabeth Harrison Bonner hosted a family social at the home of Mr. Lennie Harrison (Kirkwood, MO.)
In the latter part of 1976, a young man by the name of Wilfred McMullen received a vision from God. This vision was to plan a reunion for the entire family.
As time went on, the Lord greatly blessed this effort, as is evident today.
Let us thank God today and in the days ahead, for the unity that we are now enjoying; the reason being, that He has been so merciful unto us.
